Debra is the CEO of Valley Mental Health, a Utah based  community mental health center.  VMH is a $100 million dollar  organization serving as the mental health authority  representative for a tri county region and substance abuse  authority for 2 counties.  The organization serves approximately 20,000 individuals a year offering a complete continuum of mental health/substance abuse care along with community supports such as housing, supported employment and educational and vocational training.

Other priorities of the organization include long-term care and integration of physical and behavioral health.

Debra is an ANA certified psychiatric nurse receiving degrees through academic scholarship from Weber State University and University of Utah in nursing and psychology.  She also holds a masters degree from St. Joseph’s College of Maine in Health Administration.

Her experience has included inpatient acute care in university-based and privately owned hospitals, primarily with SPMI (serious & persistently mentally ill) clients.  Prior to her administration and management roles, she served as a direct care provider and supervisor in community settings.

Debra has served, or currently serves, on the following boards: Disability Determination Services, Salt Lake County Housing (HOI), Alliance House (international clubhouse model for seriously and persistently mentally ill individuals), Utah Behavioral Health Network (UBHN), Valley Services (supported employment organization), Utah Hospital Associations (UHA), Mental Healthcare America (MHA), Mental Health Corporation of America (MHCA), MHRRG (Mental Health Risk Retention Group) and United Way Change Council.

In addition to mental health involvement, she serves or has served as an active volunteer in community organizations, including Aging Services, S.L. Junior League, past PTA board member, House of Hope (a community drug rehabilitation program), Boy and Girl Scouts of America programs, and Holy Cross Hospital Grief Center, Special Olympics, Traveler's Aid, Catholic Community Services, Salt Lake Assistance League and Utah Cancer Association.
